Computer Classes

The Apache Junction Public Library is proud to offer a variety of entry and advanced level computer classes covering some of the most popular areas of computer usage. Classes are a 90 minute, one time occurence and the class size is limited to 14 participants.

Where: Apache Junction Public Library program room/computer lab.

Difficulty Level: All classes are designed for users with very little or no experience.


Classes & Descriptions:


Basic Internet
Participants are introduced to the basics of the computer. Participants do a subject search and learn how to narrow it. They are also shown how to get to a specific website address. If time allows, they may also start on a search of interest to them. Participants will also learn how to evaluate website information plus save and print web pages.
Prerequisite:  Registration and use of a mouse are required

Basic E-mail
Using Yahoo! Mail (a free e-mail provider), participants will learn how to open an e-mail account. They will learn the basic functions of the account and how to send and receive e-mail to each other as practice. If you already know how to send and receive e-mail, this class may be too basic for you.
Prerequisite:
Registration and ability to use a mouse are required

Microsoft Word
Participants are introduced to the basics of word processing. They learn how to make formatting changes to a document such as style effects, font sizes and styles. Students also learn to save to a disk, print documents and open from a disk.

eBayeeBeeeeeeeeay
Using eBay, the popular online auction site, students learn the basics of establishing an account, searching for items, bidding and selling items. Students will also learn valuable security tips and precautions.

Basic Computer Imaging

The class will demonstrate the use of freely available software like Windows Paint, Kodak Easyshare, as well as applications such as Nero, PowerStitch and Adobe Photoshop to edit, enhance, manage and distribute your digital photographs. Learn how to remove “red-eye” effect and “noise” from your digital images, “stitch” multiple photos into stunning panoramic landscapes, and restore old photographs to their original colors. Using a personal computer, some skill and a bit of patience you will be able to make your photos into creative works of art.

Basic Excel 2007

Microsoft Excel Participants will be given an introduction to the entry level technniques of spreadsheets including the explanation of rows, columns, cells and their purposes. An overview of basic functions such as sort, and simple formulas is included. Registration and ability to use a mouse are required, and a familiarity with Microsoft Office Word is helpful.

Beyond Basic Computer P.I.T. Stop

Bring in your computer or use one of ours to continue your success using computers.
